2021 Graduate Spotlight: Shannon McWaters

Can you imagine what it must feel like to graduate college in the middle of an ongoing worldwide pandemic? Well, some of our scholarship recipients can. Learn more about their experiences in this series of College Fund Graduate Spotlights!

Meet Shannon! She graduated with a degree in Information, Communication, and Technology from Florida State University.

During the pandemic Shannon had more free time to focus on her side hobbies, worked out more, and got a full-time job while still in school. On the flip side, she had less social time and quality college experiences. She learned that she needs regular social interaction and planned activities to maintain happy and healthy.

While in undergrad, Shannon interned as a Database Management intern at the American Council of Trustees and Alumni and as a Web Development intern at the Center for Leadership & Social Change. She also worked as an undergraduate research assistant for a project focusing on the learning and social impact of social media on adolescents, volunteered as an assistant park ranger with the Florida State Park Service, and was a member of FSU's Model United Nations team and the scholarship chair for FSU's College of Social Sciences and Public Policy Student Leadership Council.

She'll be starting a full-time job at Brandt Information Services as Junior Web Developer. Congratulations Shannon
